The definition of a "monster" is subjective further, some sea monsters may have been based on scientifically accepted creatures, such as whales and types of giant and colossal squid. They can be slimy and scaly and are often pictured threatening ships or spouting jets of water. Marine monsters can take many forms, including sea dragons, sea serpents, or tentacled beasts. Sea monsters are beings from folklore believed to dwell in the sea and often imagined to be of immense size. Dual element monsters typically have the combined weaknesses and resistances of both elements. Monsters are restricted from leveling above Level 10 without the aid of a temple. Legendary monsters may only be placed in legendary habitats. Hybrid monsters may be placed in either habitat corresponding to either of its elements. Monsters must be placed in a habitat that corresponds to their element. The element which a particular monster belongs to determines which of the habitats it can be placed in after being hatched.
